What is Refworks?

RefWorks is a web application that allows you to easily store, manage and use literature references. For example for research, graduation report or paper.

Because RefWorks is web-based, you have access everywhere. It is free to use for teachers, employees and students of Avans University of Applied Sciences.

Possibile with Refworks

  • collecting and organizing references, for example from the Xplora databases, Kaluga and Google Scholar.
  • including full-text articles or other documents in your collection of references
  • collecting websites with RefGrab-it
  • inserting references into your text
  • creating a reference list in a Word document
  • applying commonly used citation styles, such as APA, Harvard or Vancouver
  • sharing of referrals

Starting Refworks

This is how you create an account in RefWorks:

  • go to https://refworks.proquest.com
  • click on Sign in to use RefWorks
  • Enter your details (Avans email address) and choose a password
  • click Next
  • enter your details
  • click Create Account

You now have immediate access.

Refworks Citation Manager (RCM)

Install new application, you need to do the following:
1. Make sure you are logged into Refworks
2. Open Word
3. Go to Start to Add-ins and select Refworks
4. Log in here with your own credentials
5. You will now see all your references and citations displayed in a column on the right.
6. Additionally, when you open a new document, you will see 'RCM' in the menu, click on it and then Refworks will start within Word.
