Creating scenarios of the past

Introduction to scenario planning

For a plain, animated introduction of scenario planning (comparing reactive boxing and proactive judo), watch this 4-minute video

Examples

A large number of future scenarios on different topics and sectors can be found on the internet to get an idea of what scenarios can look like and how they are used in practice.

Here are some good examples:

  • Examples of (mega)trends, trend breaks and driving forces can, among many other sources, be found on the websites of the German Zukunfts Institute and consulting company Roland Berger, and in this Deloitte report. Note that these sources mostly show general categories that have to be translated and specified for particular industries.
  • A web search for "industry timeline" or “create industry timeline” on YouTube yields several web links with examples on the development of e-cigarettes and Canadian oil and natural gas, different formats from Venngage, and a simple video on to make one.
